چکیده | ||
A new Oxytropis species (family Fabaceae) with white color petals, is described, photographed, and presented here: Oxytropis birjandica sp. nova. It is endemic to the South Khorassan province of eastern Iran. Morphological evidence supports taxonomic placement near to its possible relatives: it appears to be most closely related to O. sutakensis Maassoumi and O. compacta Maassoumi & Joharchi. It is a very rare plant species and its conservation status is provisionally assessed as Critically Endangered (CR). A detailed description and comparisons with similar taxa, color images, distribution and habitat, and conservation status of the new species are provided.
